V9 was due to be released in 2025. It went through 2 beta test phases and covered 3 main features:-
Layer Parameters
Chord Sets
Midicake Connect
Plus, a number of smaller features and fixes.
All is sound with the firmware and was signed off for release, but there were numerous issues with Midicake Connect that I wanted to mop up before release.
Connect isn't part of the firmware, it is a web based tool, but it requires changes introduced in V9.
I sank considerable time into Connect but did not get it signed off before other projects got in the way. I took the decision to hold off the release until the new year, however some mopping up is still needed. It will come, but I had to prioritise.
The Layer parameters feature, adds (predictably) layered notes at scale and/or octave intervals, enabling chord arpeggios.
The Chord Set feature gives you 8 banks of chords, allowing you to assign sets of chords for quick retrieval.
I hope this note makes sense. I've been meaning to publish an update on progress for a while, yet it's been full on, keeping Midicake going and working on other projects. These projects are key to supporting the continued development of ARP.
