I am set in control mode to "out" and when I connect my microfreak directly to the USB host it receives midi and plays but when I connect a Caldigit powered USB hub to the USB host and plug my microfreak into the hup it does not work. Why? Is the USB host really only suppose to be to receive midi? How can I send midi out from the midicake via USB in a dawlwess setup with out a computer? Do I need a Midi Hub like a Bomebox. https://www.bome.com/products/bomebox ?

Thanks!
It sounds like the problem is the USB Hub. I have just tested my Blofeld and I have exactly the same issue. It works ok when connected directly but not when connected via the USB Hub. It is likely that the USB Hub is not transmitting the MIDI data.
I have used a powered USB Hub with Android Apps and it works ok most of the time but I wouldn't say it was trustworthy. But in this case Android is running as the USB Host device. I cannot vouch for the Bomebox, I have not tried it. You'll have to check the forums and reviews.
Is everything working ok when you connect Microfreak directly to the USB Host port on ARP?
ARP's USB Host Port will send and receive MIDI. There should be no issue receiving notes data from the Microfreak (Note Sync) and sending note data back from the arpeggiators. So long as everything is configured correctly. On the Microfreak, turn local off and set the correct Input and Output channels. You've probably already sorted this. (See page 84 of the Microfreak Manual) The Microfreak also has TRS MIDI ports so, with the right cables, you could connect using a MIDI Hub to connect multiple devices or simply daisy chain using MIDI cables. This is the preferred solution as MIDI Hubs don't have the latency issues that USB Hubs may have. I hope this information helps.
