Device fails to start after attempted firmware update

I was able to successfully update one of my cakes. When I tried to update the second, on the reboot it got as far as the blank white screen and has just hung there. I've tried unplugging and replugging it, but it all it does on powerup is go to the blank white screen.

Same thing. I held the reset button, plugged it in, and all that happened was that the screen lit up white.

By process of elimination, I believe it to be an issue with the microcontroller. I will arrange for a replacement to be sent to you. This should only take a day or so.

This is a 3rd party component and fitting the replacement is very easy. I will send you full instructions.

Hi, I'm sorry to hear you've had issues with the update. You said that it worked on one of the ARPs. Did you update them both today?

Can you try loading the old firmware v1.5.6? It is available from midicake.com/downloads

Can I check if you are using a MAC for the update?

I had another report on the forum that the latest Teensy Loader program for Mac (used to install the firmware) has issues.

I have tested with Teensy Loader version 1.58 and all works ok. However, I believe that the download page links to 1.59 Beta - https://www.pjrc.com/teensy/loader.html

I am trying to find a solution for this. My apologies for the inconvenience. We will get it working for you one way or another.

I updated them both today. It worked fine on the white one, but on the black one (which I bought a little later). I used version 1.58 and it is on a PC. When I tried updating on the black one, it just got to a white display on the reboot and refused to go any further. I tried loading 1.5.6, but the same thing happened.

Can you try loading into the BIOS menu?

Hold the reset button and plug ARP in to power it up.

If this works, try a soft reset and see if it loads.

This is very strange and could be a hardware issue. That is unlikely but also easily fixable.
