On page 191 of the manual it explains a setup for Polyend Play Plus, but I is not clear to me if you are using the midicake as a slave or a master. Can someone please explain how to use midi cake with a goovebox, as compared to using it with a simple sequencer? Even you are using it as a slave doesn't it need to go back into the groovebox to get the audio out? Seems complicated.

Setting ARP as MIDI Control Mode IN (slave) or OUT (master) only matters for MIDI Clock Sync and Start/Stop Transport Controls. Not Note data. You just need to decide which device do you want to be the master clock? Using ARP with a groovebox or sampler (that requires specific notes to trigger samples) means setting ARP's Chord Scale to match the outputted notes. If just exploring sounds, try using a Chromatic Scale (Hold a CHORD button and rotate the KNOB Control to select "Chromatic"). Then use the Note and Octave controls to output different notes. If you know the exact MIDI notes you want to send, you can use the Octave Lock, Note Lock and Scale Lock parameters to fix ARPs note output. Then use the Steps, Bounce, Direction, Jump and Repeat parameters to create different sequences. triggering different sample sounds per step. ARP isn't a step sequencer or drum machine though, it is primarily an arpeggiator. Regarding routing, yes, ARP can receive MIDI data from the groovebox (if you want it to set the Chord/Scale) and will then generate note sequences and send them back to the groovebox if that is what you are using as your sound source. You can connect it to almost anything, that is the power of MIDI. I hope that helps. I'll be happy to clarify anything specific.
