Is there a way to fix a scale so that any chord I choose will be within that scale? (For example, D Dorian, so that if I push F it will be F major, D will be D minor etc.)
ARP doesn't incorporate the concept of Chord Scales, I'm afraid. Each chord button is assigned to a particular chord or scale, which is a distinct pattern of note intervals. So in your D Dorian example, D Minor and E Minor have semitone intervals of (3, & 4), but F Major has intervals of (4 & 3).
So you would have to change chord.
You can, of course, access almost any chord and build any progression you like. ARP does not push you down a particular path, it leaves you free to explore.Perhaps this is something we could incorporate in the future but there are no plans currently. Each time I've looked into it the potential designs make ARP more complex and more limited.
That would be fantastic. I really would vote for that feature.
