I would be interested to know if anyone has tried to implement Steve Reich's phasing technique in Midicake?
Two identical lines of music that play in sync at first, but slowly get out of phase when one of them speeds up slightly.
The difference between the two lines has to be very subtle for it to be musical.
I totally get what you are looking for. One way to achieve this effect is as follows. Create your sequence on arp 1 Copy the sequence to arp 2 (SET Mode, select arp 1, press COPY, select arp 2) Add a modulation to arp 2:
Amount: 100% Target: Delay Shape: Rising Ramp Rate: 32 Bars This isn't perfect because there are only 100 steps and the effect depends on the Time division setting, but it's an interesting approach. Give it a go and let me know what you think. As an alternative, I have considered a feature that would perhaps create a better result. This change would add a parameter that allowed you to adjust the length of the bar independently per arp. It would have a much higher resolution than delay and achieve better results for phasing. However, it is not easy to implement and requires a big change to ARP's sequencer engine. So, for now, it is on the future ideas list. I hope that helps.
