Individual step gate lengths

Is Rhythm-Tie the only way to apply individual gate lengths to steps? please

You can use Modulators to modify gate length, which will affect individual steps. (also V9 will add Gate as and FX target). You can also create similar results to Rhythm-tie, using the Binary Patterns (Velocity and Chop), setting a Gate length longer than the number of steps you wish to tie, then setting the Voice Mode to MONO.

You can copy patches, to another bank, for example.

The V9 firmware update also includes access to Midicake Connect, which will allow backup and patch sharing, but this is still in development. More news on this coming soon.

MIDI Thru just #CC

Hello, is it possible to just pass Controller thru ARP to the output? That way we could use the Modwheel of my masterkeyboard or other Controller attached to ARP. Or is there another way? please Cheers Marc

If MIDI Thru is enabled, CC messages should be forwarded.

Midi issues

Hello,I connected my Virus TI (MIDI IN) to the Midicake (MIDI OUT). I’ve assigned the MIDI channels and I can hear the Virus when playing presets, but here are the different issues I’m encountering:

  • When I launch any preset, the notes overlap — each note lasts 1 to 2 seconds too long. Every preset is a mess.

  • When I press stop, the notes keep playing for another second or two.

  • With Live Play turned ON, if I press a note, the preset triggers and stops a few seconds after I release the note. If Live Play is turned OFF, no matter the mode, I don’t hear any sound when I press a note.

I’ve tried various settings in the menus, done a hard reset, and even changed the MIDI cable — nothing changes.

Thanks for your help.

Try setting the Gate length to something really short. A few ticks.

Long gates will create overlapping notes and when pressing Stop the gates will play out. You can press stop twice to kill the notes.

Alternatively, if you want to prevent all overlapping notes completely, set Voice Mode to MONO.

Another thing to consider is that ARP is only controlling the length of the MIDI notes. The Synth itself has control over the release times, so check this too.

Let me know if that helps.
