If the user could switch off midi sync. then switch it to listen to the gate only on midi channel 16 to advance to next step. This would mimic sh101 sequencer x4.
Having it locked to a, fixed midi pulse limits the device imo.
Yeah that's right. The sequence would step along everytime it receives a trigger from midi channel 16. Each arp could move along a step based on triggers recieved on midi ch16 . For instance arp 1 steps on note 36, arp 2 note 37, arp 3 note 38, arp 4 note 39, ...... Chord sequencer could also step like on other note values. .
I had a look at the Sh101 sequencer and it supports step recording or basic arpeggios.
Yeah I suppose it is simple.. But what makes it awsome is the division of notes in the pattern by the amount of triggers. For instance if I enter a four note run of a chord then enter another 4 note run of a non diatonic chord, then enter say 8 triggers in my sequencer then it will lock and loop with a chord change after 4 steps . If I enter less triggers now the melodic element is moving by the steps missing per cycle..... Complex music can be had quite easily if one carfully selects the right chords. I may add you could add a sequence reset aswell using a midi trigger on ch16. This would mean that you van always reset it and play another trigger pattern with different number of triggers.
Implementation into the midi cake would be awsom as there's so many other functions to interact it with.
I have to be honest, I don't fully understand the request. I have reread your post several times and I can interpret your ideas in a number of ways.It is the bit about how ARP or the arps "step" on different note numbers. I'm just not sure how it should behave. Is there any chance you could do a short video with the SH101, your keyboard and sequencer and describe what you want to achieve?I'd love to get my head around this and see what we can do.Thanks.
hi, sorry for the delay i was thinking about how to articulate it and the simpleest way to describe it is ; Change the machine's idea of time from clock controlled to arbitruiry gate control via pulses recieved on midi channell 16.
I don't fully understand the request, I'm sorry. Can I clarify?
You want to use only the incoming MIDI On/Off data, not the pitch?
The, this would advance the next step of what? The sequence step or the Chord Chain step?
When you say it is locked to a fixed MIDI pulse, do you mean the step timing of the sequence or the individual note lengths?
I had a look at the Sh101 sequencer and it supports step recording or basic arpeggios.
What you're suggestion sounds really interesting, I just need to understand it exactly.
Thanks
