I have two Midicake ARPs which I want to control a Roland MC707's eight channels. Each ARP sends midi to a midi merge box and into the MC707. What would be the best way to sync the set up?
For Transport and Clock, you'll need to set MIDI Control Mode to OUT on the first ARP and IN on the second. Then route the MIDI accordingly.If you are using an external MIDI Device you'll need to send the same MIDI to both ARPs in order for both to share the same key sync data.If you are using one of the ARPs as key sync... what I've done previously is send one of ARP's arpeggiator channels at the key sync channel for ARP 2. Chord mode can work well for this or a fast arp. ARP is designed to follow whatever input it recieves. Obviously, this is not ideal is it takes up one of your 8 channels for the 707, but you could use one of those channels to key sync the 2nd ARP.Ideally, a secondary MIDI routing between the two ARPs, purely to share key sync data, would be good, so you can daisy chain them and they all share exactly the same key sync data. I'll have a think about this and see how it could be implemented in a future firmware update.Does that help answer your question?
